Viewing language as a form
of human communication, this
course is designed to help
you to become a more
effective communicator in
English in the sense of
obtaining information and
expressing yourself. You
will be exposed to a variety
of written materials such as
essays, book reviews, news
articles, poems and short
stories. In addition, to
cope with the real-life
needs in college, you will
practice oral as well as
written English skills
through a series of
communication projects, e.
g., oral presentation,
discussion in groups, and
various writing tasks.
Since communication is
considered a dynamic and two-
way process, you are to have
a share in the decision
making process in this
class. That is, you are
invited to participate in
some of the pedagogical
choices including selection
of reading materials and
choice of assignments.
